Facilities at The Barn
Heath Village Barn offers a practical and flexible space for parties, family occasions, meetings, clubs, groups and community events.
From our recently refitted kitchen to tables, chairs and a secure outside area, here is a quick guide to the facilities available when you hire The Barn.
The Main Hall
The main hall provides a flexible space that can be arranged to suit a variety of events and activities.
There is also a stage area, making the hall suitable for presentations, performances and entertainment as well as parties, meetings and community activities.
Tables & Chairs
Tables and chairs are available for hirers to use during their booking.
The Barn currently provides:
- 40 chairs
- 8 hard-top tables measuring approximately 6ft x 2ft 3in
- 6 card tables measuring approximately 34in x 34in
- 1 large wooden table measuring approximately 137cm x 76cm, permanently positioned in the main hall
Tables and chairs should be returned to their designated storage areas at the end of your hire.
Kitchen Facilities
The Barn has a modern, refitted kitchen available for hirers.
Facilities include:
- Induction hob
- Oven
- Microwave
- Dishwasher
- Fridge
- Freezer
- Kettle
- Hot-water urn
- Mugs, cups and saucers
- Cutlery
- Serving dishes
- Basic kitchen utensils
- Bread knives and bottle openers
- Water and juice jugs
A limited quantity of kitchen towels, tea towels and refuse bags may also be available.
The kitchen is intended to support your event, but we recommend bringing any specialist cooking or serving equipment you may require.
Family Facilities
We want The Barn to work well for family events and activities.
Facilities include:
- Baby changing table in the ladies’ toilet
- Children’s potties
- Children’s step stools in both toilet areas
- Nappy sacks and a disposal bin
Please note that high chairs are not provided, so hirers should bring their own if required.
Garden & Outside Space
The Barn has a large, fully enclosed grassed garden, accessible directly from the building without needing to walk through the car park. Use of this space is restrictive during inclement weather and the winter months.
It provides useful additional space for children’s activities, family events and community gatherings.
Hirers wishing to use the garden for organised activities should contact us beforehand, particularly where equipment is being brought onto the site.
Access to The Barn
Please be aware that The Barn does not currently provide step-free access throughout the building.
There are:
- Two steps with a handrail to enter the main building
- Three further steps with a handrail into the main hall
- Additional steps leading onto the stage and the rear fire exit.
If you or one of your guests has particular accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to explain the layout in more detail.
Food & Refreshments
The Barn does not provide catering or refreshments as part of the hire.
Kitchen facilities, crockery and cutlery are available, allowing you to prepare and serve your own refreshments or arrange catering for your event.
Local catering options may also be available.
What Should I Bring?
Although the kitchen contains a range of everyday equipment, depending upon your event you may wish to bring:
- Drinking glasses or disposable cups
- Additional plates and bowls
- Additional serving jugs
- Baking trays
- Cooking pans
- Chopping boards
- Kitchen knives
- Cling film or food wrap
- Aluminium foil
- Condiments
- Additional bin bags
If you are planning extensive food preparation, we recommend checking with us beforehand that the equipment you require is available.
Wi-Fi
There is currently no WiFi available at The Barn.
If internet access is important for your event or meeting, you should make your own mobile data arrangements.
